On 17th September 2019, my classmates and I took a trip to Pulau Ketam. The main objective of this trip was to carry out a site survey on the island, studying the strengths and weaknesses of the island and finding out the potential improvements that could be made there. One of the only ways to visit Pulau Ketam is by boat. So, being the cheapest and fastest option, we took a train to Port Klang to board a ferry. It takes at least 35 to 45 minutes to travel from Port Klang to Pulau Ketam.
Once we had reached the island, we had to rent out bicycles in order to travel around. Then our lecturer took us on a short tour of the island before letting each of our groups to work on our site survey. During our site survey, we manage to learn a few things about this island.

1. Background.
Pulau Ketam is a quiet fishermens village with its population mainly being Hainanese Chinese residents. The activities that are carried out there include, fishing, boat making, seafood restaurants, retailer shops, souvenir shops, bicycle rental service and other small business.

2. Materials.
House, shops and other buildings on the island are made up of wooden planks, concrete and metal.
Older buildings still remain its original structure which is made of wood. Others had been reconstructed or renovated using brick, concrete and metal. Some houses also have been renovated to a more modern style with ceramic tile finishing on walls and floor.

3. Cleanliness.
Its sad to say, but the small fishermen's island is not properly taken care off as locals aren't too bothered with littering. As the tide goes down, we are able to see the amount of rubbish and used items simply been thrown onto the water, causing it to sink and clutter on the sea bed.
